About *Arizona

Courtesy Post: From Arizona’s current home.

We got Arizona from a couple who separated (the home was abusive). She has had a tough life. I feel really bad for the girl, and have tried for 5 years to help her, but we just aren’t what she needs. We are a boisterous household and I really think Arizona will do 100% better in a quiet home with no other pets, and someone who can be there more often than not. She can be super friendly, when there is one person at home. Anymore, than that and she becomes fearful and hides anywhere she can. When no one is home she can become very vocal.

Arizona doesn’t like being picked up or having someone go to pet her. However, if she goes to you, then she loves to be petted, preferably on her head. She tries to allow her body but tenses up. If she really trusts someone then once in a blue moon she may sit on you lap. She sometimes gets a playful look as if she wants to play then instantly becomes fearful and will run and hide again. This fearful behaviour has lessened over the 5 years we have had her, but it is still very present. We are a boisterous household and I think Arizona will do 100% better in a quiet home with no other pets and someone who can be there more often than not.
