Hi my name is Basil. I’ve had a rough start to life. When I arrived in care I was very shy and scared of all people. Because it was a difficult journey for me to get into care I spent a long time alone until ccar had a volunteer who could work with me as an under socialized kitten. At first I was not sure about people so I kept my distance. But with lots of hours of one on one I’ve decided people are the best!
I regularly go up to my new people and ask for pats and I like to sleep on their bed at their feet. I love to purr and I will defiantly tell you when it’s dinner time. I am very curious and will explore all the shelves, counters and hidey holes of my space. Because it took me a while to understand that people are awesome I can be skittish. Sudden movements and noise will startle me and I may seek shelter for 15 minutes until I feel ready to come out again.
I desperately want a cat friend to play with. I keep trying to engage the resident cat and be his friend but he’s not interested. Another younger cat would be great because I have a lot of kitten energy in me. I’m in a house with teenagers so older kids would be fine. I don’t think I would like young kids as much. If you’ve come this far and are still reading please know that I am the sweetest boy. I blossom more and more each day and I LOVE affection I’m just still dealing a little bit with my fears. If you take a chance with me my foster mom will teach you all the tricks that work to make me ask for pats. And she thinks one day I will be a lap cat, I’m just not quite there yet. I have excellent litter box manners and a good appetite. (CCAR ID: C22-239)
