Here are the things she loves:
Trauma
We are not sure of the trauma she has gone through in her life. There has been some speculation that she was possibly used as a bait dog (she has some fairly large scars on her face) or she was left outside tied up and went into heat. We have been working with a trainer because Becca was showing some aggressive tendencies. What we learned from the trainer is that Becca is afraid of other dogs. This can sometimes translate into aggression. So far we have only truly seen her be aggressive with two small dogs. Both were barking and being aggressive with her. Normally she will sniff dogs and let them sniff her as long as they come up to her calmly. She will walk with a group of dogs and can hang out with dogs.
Based on her behavior with small dogs my daughter has been taking her to work with a trainer. She is being clicker/treat trained so she will look away when other dogs are walking by her.
Health
Becca has a bad back end and has arthritis in her back end and paws. She is on medication to help with her arthritis and also on pain medication to manage it. She is eating special mobility food to help support her. Her teeth are all worn down and she recently had a lot of dental work done and some teeth pulled, she has made a full recovery.
The vet has asked us to not be let Becca run a lot so we keep her on leash when she is out for a walk. She can however walk off leash and will stay with you. We do not have a fenced in backyard and live in the suburbs so she is only outside supervised and on a leash.
She is a great companion.
