About Twyla

Twyla is a very dainty, petite cat who is probably the smartest cat I have ever known. She can open doors, but know she is not really allowed to so if I am in the vicinity when she is doing it, she will open the door and then run and hide. Quite a strong willed little cat who will stand up to any much bigger cat and they usually back down. I think they recognize her amazing intelligence. I sometimes think she is looking at me thinking “you think you are much smarter than me, but if only you knew what I know.” I think she is right.

Twyla was a tiny pregnant cat when she was found in an abandoned building. She gave birth to two stillborn kittens and actually grieved for them. She took on another kitten and let him suckle her even though we already had her spayed. She got quite very ill with a nasty viral infection that often cats die from. Not so Twyla, no virus was going to keep her down. She recovered and I can probably say she is the healthiest cat at my house with one of the best immune systems. Twyla does have a condition that creates lumps over her body. We have had them analyzed and they are not malignant or problematic in any way. There is a complicated name for this but it escapes me. A lump will go down in one spot but then she will get another one elsewhere. There is nothing we can do about it and nothing to be concerned about.

Twyla is a major cuddler and plonks herself on my knee in the evening and dares the others to sit there as well. Only the brave souls will, making sure not to touch this tough minded tiny cat. She will cuddle right into me at night purring away. Super friendly, super intelligent, and amazing survivor.
