Thanks you to everyone who inquired about long term fostering for Skittle. He now has a long term foster home.
This lovely boy, who has won the hearts of the staff at Broadmead Vet, came to us when his long time owner passed away and he had nowhere to go. All his life, he had been living with a lady as her only pet and now he finds himself living with other cats (and he is coping well, but would prefer to be the centre of attention) and not having a regular knee to sit on. He had high blood pressure and was diagnosed as hyperthyroid when he arrived. He is on transdermal medication for the thyroid condition (it is put on the inside of his ear twice daily) and his blood pressure is now back to normal. He had dental work and that really helped him as he was in considerable pain when eating.
We all feel badly for this guy, and others in our care as well, who, in their mature years, have had undergo drastic lifestyle changes. Some of them cope okay, and Skittle is coping but I would like more for him. More will be posted as we learn more about him.
