Little old Scarlett died last night. I took her to bed with me as I thought this could be her last night. She passed around 2am. Unfortunately, I must have dropped off but I think it was peaceful as I would have woken up if it wasn’t.
I made the decision, in consultation with Liz, to not try to force meds and fluids on her, she was in renal failure, as she fought like a tiger, a true tortie in that regard. The last two days, I managed to get some fluids into her and honestly, it seemed to make her worse. I know with supplements and daily fluids, she could definitely have lived a lot longer but she hated it so much, I thought this was what she would have wanted.
She used to sit with me in my chair most nights, just a sweet little girl who I suspect when she was young, was a pretty feisty tortie. I will miss her standing on my kitchen counter wanting water from a glass (yes, I let her do whatever she wanted in the last few months.)
I will miss this little old lady.

Scarlett recently arrived at Cat’s Cradle Animal Rescue in stage 3 renal failure. She is very sweet and loving. Scarlett’s favorite place to sleep is in the bathtub. Her foster mom has put a bed in there with some food for her. Cute!
