About Oreo

Oreo was a CCAR kitten who was adopted out. He got into a fight with something and had some severe damage to his spine which resulted in serious paralysis of his back legs and lack of bladder and bowel control. He was returned to us and Dr. Wilson felt that time would tell if he was going to regain any or all movement and control. He has improved enormously in about 6 months. He still moves with a strange gait but can get around really well. There is a modicum of bladder control and the bowel movements are become less of an effort for him although he does not use the litter box for these. It is manageable and the foster home he is in has dealt with this kind of issue before and has a special area set up for him. He is happy, playful, a bit bossy with other males, but the youngsters really like him. He would love to go outside as he used to but simply cannot ever do this. He has access to an outdoor, fenced area which he enjoys. He will likely be in our care until the end of his days and I do hope he will continue to improve but any improvements will need to happen within the first year as things are unlikely to change after a year.
