This is Mecca, a white and orange boy who can’t wait to call Vancouver Island home. He has learned his name and he now comes running when he hears his name!
Mecca was found as a stray, and it is obvious he endured tough living conditions before ending up with Cat’s Cradle.
It has taken him a couple months to settle in because he arrived very fearful of humans, but his foster family took one small step at a time to help him get comfortable. It turns out, he is also very curious, playful, and food motivated – slowly but surely, Mecca is coming out of his shell.
Mecca loves all toys and can entertain himself (and you!) just as easily with a spring toy as with a piece of recycling, but his favourite is when his foster family plays chase with the wand toy. He’s also an avid explorer and an excellent climber, which can sometimes lead to mischief if he isn’t given a proper outlet.
Mecca is looking for a patient person who can follow his lead when it comes to building trust, but in time, he will reward the right person with plenty of affection – endless head butts, gentle cuddles, and the cutest little trills. He would be best suited to a quiet home without young children, and while he’s been a solo cat with his foster family, he may do well with a cat companion. He has not had any experiences with dogs. If this sounds like the right fit, Mecca is such a joy to have around. He is smart, observant, and full of energy, ensuring a good laugh with his forever family (for example, there’s a photo of him in one of his favourite poses – we call this one “the meerkat”).
