JJ is a beautiful, playful, and active young adult cat. The 99% black jokingly refers to a small white patch under his chin. He is affectionate, but also has an independent streak. He is curious but has good house manners. JJ loves to play with his toys with me, and is becoming quite good at fetch. He also loves to play with my long hair. JJ revels in racing around the apartment, and weaving around or hiding among the plants. He loves hunting bugs or watching everything from the balcony. Sometimes he stays there late in to the night, sometimes sitting on my lap when I join him. He also enjoys laying in the potted shrubs. He likes to climb up high and watch or sleep on a thick wool blanket I put on top of my shelving for him in the apartment. When people are visiting, he often watches from a small distance, not getting too involved. Although he is still some what shy of unfamiliar people, he is thrilled to explore the building, wearing a cat harness and leash. At the time of posting, I have taken him for one short exploratory harnessed walk outside, which he enjoyed, although he was startled by the sound of a car and by the appearance of an unfamiliar dog. If you wanted to keep up the harness training I would stay in quiet areas.
JJ has a beautiful presence and I think he will reveal the depths of his loving nature over time as he feels ready. His huge purr is one of his ways of radiating his joy. He likes to be scooped up and cuddled, but he doesn’t like to sit on my lap most of the time. He usually sleeps on my bed for part of the night. JJ would not be a good cat with young children because he likes his space, he can be cautious, and he very occasionally pounces on me. He likes my gentle black lab and is getting along with my new foster kitty. A relatively quiet, toy and texture filled cat stimulating environment with lots of love and playtime, harnessed walks, and cuddles when he wants them would be great for JJ. Come and meet JJ.
