Griselda made the long journey from Saudia Arabia to Victoria with the help of an international animal rescue agency. She was rescued from the city streets, fostered temporarily in Saudi Arabia before being welcomed by Cat’s Cradle.
Griselda is an Arabian Mau, a distinct breed of cat unique to the Middle East. The breed does not have an undercoat to help them survive the extreme heat of the desert climate so she does not shed very much. She is an athletic cat with long legs and sleek body which allows her to run quickly and jump high.
Not only is it rare to be a ginger female, Griselda has spots on her torso instead of stripes. She is a talkative girl with unique vocalizations. She loves food and we have to monitor how much we give her to make sure that we are not overfeeding. She will happily eat what we feed her.
She is affectionate and will ask to be petted for short periods of time. Once she has had her fill, she will stretch out next to you resting before her next play session. Griselda has a lot of energy and would do best in a home where you have time to play with her. Her foster home does not have any children or other pets so we do not know how she would do in these situations. Given her love of play, having additional people in the home to play with her is probably a good thing, but she is too active for small children.
We suggest that you read up on the Arabian Mau breed to get a better understanding of the unique characteristics of this breed as part of your decision making in wanting to adopt Griselda.
Griselda’s CCAR ID# is SA24-196
