About Charlie

Meet Charlie, a self assured, rambunctious 3 year-old female tabby cat.

Charlie is very independent and curious. She loves to be played with and can be a bit mouthy (likes to nip fingers but does not bite hard) when playing. Her adopter needs to work on this and we can give advice on how to deal with this. She probably would do best in a home with adults only or older children. She likes to hang out with her people and will tolerate cuddles when she is in the mood, a typical cat! Over the last 6 months we have been figuring out what type of home would work best for Charlie. She went from roaming the streets in Afghanistan to living in a home on the west coast of Canada. Her transition has been tough for her but she is slowly starting to relax in her new country.

When Charlie arrived she was a confident Street cat that did not know how to live inside. Being a street cat meant that she ate whatever she could get. We quickly learned that we could not let her graze and only feed her meals as she would continue to eat which caused lots of problems with her stomach. Now she is used to her food and her digestive issues have subsided.

Charlie is living in a home with another cat but that comes with its own set of problems. She is definitely the dominant one which causes lots of growling and hissing and not a lot of playing. It would be better for her to go to a home without another cat.

Charlie needs to be indoor/outdoor cat. She was wandering the house and not settling down. Once she started going outside she started settling down . Now she seems to be happier and more relaxed so we need a home where Charlie can go outside when she wants to but that is relatively safe particularly when it comes to traffic volume.

Charlie has had a difficult life and needs to find the right home that will understand her and respect that she has some stuff to learn about living with people who care about her.
