Mario is a very sweet little guy who has obviously had some serious trauma in his short life. He has some significant scarring on his back that is almost certainly from one or two large dogs picking him and shaking him. He does not appear to be afraid of larger dogs but I would prefer him to go to a home either with a very mellow large dog or a small dog. He currently lives with three small dogs and gets along very well with them. He is gaining confidence and is now comfortable being picked up and will give me his belly to rub. Loves his hour long or more leash walks and does not really pull except when he sees other dogs. He was barking a bit but I am using a Citronella bark collar which seems to be helping. I would be happy to loan this to any adoptive home for the short term. He does sleep on his own at night and not a peep from him. He has figured out the dog door and is house trained although do expect a few accidents when he is moved.
If interested, please request a dog application form from email@example.com. Please note that only applicants who I feel would be the right home for this little dog, will be contacted. We get many applicants for small dogs and as a volunteer, I do not have the time to respond to everyone and I apologize in advance for this. I feel the best home for Mario would be in a home with another dog, especially if you are out a lot of the day. Older children would be fine with him. I have not seen any aggression in him at all. If you don’t have another dog, but are home most of the day, that might work. He does love his walks so I would like a home that is pretty active and has a decent fenced garden space. I am confident that given some time, he could be let off leash without any problem but right now I am not doing this.See All Puppies/Dogs Adoption Info
