One year and three months ago I took in from CCAR a senior cat called Magic. He quickly earned the nickname Boney as no matter how much he ate he never gained any weight. A trait , I must admit, I secretly envied. Boney’s favourite place  in the whole world was the kitchen. He was ever hopeful that a tasty morsel would fall from the sky.

When the dishwasher was being loaded he cheerfully jumped up to become our ‘pre-rinse’ cycle. His second favourite place was glued to my side when I was sitting down. He would gaze up at me for hours anticipating that I would be making a trip to the kitchen to give him a yummy. On Feb 11 2019 Boney lost his battle for life. The vet at Central was so wonderful. Boney arrived distressed and disorientated but after receiving initial treatment was able to settle down. This gave me precious minutes to say goodbye while he peacefully purred in my arms. Boney was taken from me so suddenly that it seems surreal that the little fella is not with me. The house has an emptiness to it now. A silence that is hard to bear. My soul will never stop grieving for the loss of this special one.

Please know I did not want to let you go but it was because I loved you that I knew I had to. Goodbye Boney….
