Black Cats are the Best!

Posted on September 7, 2016

A message from Bev:  We have a lot of young black kittens, most of them are 3 to 4 months old and incredibly beautiful creatures. They are very difficult to photograph so that is why you might not see too many of them on the site. I have been doing animal rescue for many years now and I honestly can say that some of the nicest, smartest cats I have come across are the black ones. A lot of them have a lot of Siamese in them as well. Years ago, I trapped a whole litter of Siamese looking kittens and the mom was jet black. I truly believe that black cats and black dogs as well really do get overlooked for whatever the reason, superstition (how stupid is that? a woman came to my house once and recoiled in horror when she saw a black cat. Needless to say, I didn’t adopt a cat of any colour to her!), or people are not focusing on the important thing, ie the personality and character of the kitten, and it is like buying a pair of shoes, not adopting a living creature. Please, please do not overlook the “little black things” we have available for adoption. Whenever I see a black kitten, my heart breaks for him or her as I know that they have to be more fun, more outgoing, more everything to get “picked” by an adopter. I love you folks who contact us and say that you want to adopt a black kitten because you know how wonderful they are and how they are always the last to get adopted. Black is beautiful (and so is white too, as although they are less common than the black kittens, white kittens tend to be slower to be adopted, could it be because that white hair shows up too easily? Sure hope not!)
