Velvet's Story:

This lovely gray lady is Velvet, slightly reminiscent of a Russian Blue, perhaps her great, great grandpa was one! She is between 2 and 4 years old and the vet confirms that she is very healthy.

Her foster mom describes Velvet as "self assured and confident." She is affectionate, (but lets you know when she has had enough attention, the "self assured bit!") talkative and outgoing. She should be an only cat as she doesn't react well around other cats. Because of this reaction, she should probably be an indoor only girl.

Update:

Velvet has been "tested" around multiple cats and while she made a lot of noise and wasn't too happy about them, she certainly tolerated the situation. Our feeling is she would tolerate another cat although likely would do best as an only cat. She does tolerate dogs, doesn't like them, but it is a rare cat that actually likes dogs (Kelley does, check her out!)

Velvet is now an only cat in a foster home and is truly showing who she is. Within hours of going to her new foster home, she was demanding affection and sitting on knees. Watch for more updates on the lovely Velvet.

Update from Velvet's foster mom:

Velvet is getting used to her new life with us and so are we.

She gets up around 6-7am and gets hyper immediately. She starts to run all over the house. She likes a catnip bag and a small plastic ball (a bell inside) very much, and plays with it by herself for a while.

After I wake up, she usually starts to follow me. When I wash my face, she's on the washstand. When I put on makeup, she's on the dressing table between me and the mirror. When I work with my laptop computer, she's on the desk beside the computer. And after that, she usually goes to the bedroom and sleeps on my bed. Sometimes under the bed or in a doggy bed.

She likes watching outside from our deck window. Yesterday, she found a deer and had been staring at it until it disappeared. She likes watching birds, too.

Update: Velvet has been adopted!
