Phyllis' Story: |
|
I have a long story and I’d prefer not to tell tales and name names, so let’s just say I somehow ended up for adoption. I was in a store that closed and several rescue groups and agencies took the other cats but I was left. The last one to be chosen so to speak – until Cat’s Cradle came to my rescue!!! They took me to the vet because I have a head tilt and lots of missing teeth. Dr. Wilson saw right away that I needed dental work. I had some infections in my mouth and the treatment helped that. Thankfully, due to recent donations from CCAR supporters, I was able to get the needed medical treatment! I’m a cute little ginger girl – truly adorable and sweet in every way. I like to cuddle and be petted but I’m also independent enough to enjoy my alone time for long naps. My head does tilt a little most but not all the time. My breathing is a bit raspy, but not nearly as bad as when I first came into the fold. I’d be quite happy to wait for you while you’re at work all day as I do like a lot of good uninterrupted nap time. I’ll follow you around sometimes and talk to you. Other times I’ll sit in a window for hours on end. Because of my missing front teeth I do drool just a little bit. It’s no big deal. In a group of people I know, my favorite thing is to go from lap to lap – sharing my attentions so that everyone can have the fun of petting me! Okay, I suppose you’re still wondering about that head tilt. Well, I used to wonder too but now I’ve accepted it. My doctor said it’s caused by an inner ear polyp that would require microsurgery and cost several thousand dollars – and that the polyp might then return! The good news is that I can live quite comfortably with this so we can all stop worrying. Luckily, I’m such a little darling that after awhile no one even notices my head tilt. My first foster mom even said, “I don‘t consider Phyllis to be a special needs cat at all.” I don’t even consider myself handicapped. I can live with it and I hope you can too. I’m a wonderful companion and hope someone will give me a chance at a forever home! Update: Phyllis will be going to our newest foster mom. Bev visited the cats and Phyllis bonded with her immediately and wanted to follow her home ! |
