Louie has been Adopted !

"Looking for me ?"

Louie is a glamorous-looking cat but please look beyond this and remember the patience required to foster him.  Louie is one of six feral kittens who were wild and unapproachable when found about a month ago in Metchosin. 

Frankly, we were hesitant as to what to do with this lovely litter that was borderline too old for domestication.  However, with a few weeks of affectionate handling, Louie and his littermates came a long way.

Little Louie is a sweet, gentle, and gorgeous cat with a thick fluffy coat.  He is the only one in his litter with the appearance of a Himalayan.  He is very shy and gives a brief warning hiss before allowing even a familiar human to pet him, but then purrs quite loudly.  He particularly likes back and tummy rubs.  He is most comfortable in his cage and can be held in or near it, but when out in a room he is quite fearful and runs to hide.  Although he is a quiet guy, when in the same crate with one of his brothers he is the one who encourages the others to play and loves wrestling vigorously with them. 

For Louie and his littermates, there is a lot of work still ahead, but all can be handled, love petting, purr a lot, play with other kittens, and enjoy the company of cats.  At this time they are all most comfortable in their large crates but are gradually being introduced to the big world of a human house!  We have no doubt these kittens will make great domestic cats in the not too distance future, but a lot of patience is required.
