Our Purpose:
To
rescue, rehabilitate, spay/neuter, and rehome distressed, abandoned, or
neglected cats and dogs considered unadoptable by reason of health, age,
appearance, or temperament.
Who We Are:
Cat's Cradle Animal Rescue was founded in 2006 because of the acute need
for rescue services for animals with special needs, such as
serious medical conditions. We are unique in that we emphasize
rehabilitating and re-homing animals considered "unadoptable".
Cat’s Cradle Animal Rescue is a non-profit registered charity (CRA#
85627 5557 RR0001). It is funded solely by donations and our
Fundraising
efforts. Tax receipts are issued for all monetary donations.
Where We Work:
We
operate in the Greater Victoria Area, including all the municipalities in
the Capital Regional District; however, if an animal has a condition that cannot be handled by other organizations, we will do our
best to help animals from other areas in Southern Vancouver Island.
What We Do:
 |
establish
relationships with animal pounds and take animals considered unadoptable
or in need of special help |
 |
ensure that
distressed animals are evaluated by a vet as soon as possible |
 |
arrange with local
veterinarians to generously supply us with required medical services at
a considerable discount |
 |
free animals from
lives in cages, whenever possible |
 |
before they are
adopted, provide necessary treatment, medication, shots, deworming, flea
treatment, spaying/neutering, and rehabilitation for all animals that
come into our care |
 |
network with other
rescue organizations |
 |
place each cat or dog
in a loving foster home where it is nurtured, evaluated, and
rehabilitated, and pay for all food, supplies, and medical attention
needed until adoption |
 |
locate suitable
foster homes (current capacity is 15 cats and 3 dogs and during “kitten
season” up to 24 kittens) |
 |
ensure that dogs are observed and evaluated
by people experienced in dog behaviour and arrange any required training prior to adoption (One volunteer, a
professional dog trainer, has supplied free training and advice to both CCAR
and new adoptive dog owners) |
 |
advertise animals
for adoption on
www.victoriaadoptables.com
and on
our own website |
 |
place posters in
vets’ offices and pet stores |
 |
on a case by case
basis, we may be able to provide financial assistance for part or all of the
cost of spaying/neutering |
 |
raise money
through donations, adoption fees, and fundraising activities,
while ensuring that no one
involved with CCAR receives remuneration for services or expenses
incurred (e.g. mileage) |
 |
find and encourage
volunteers who donate many hours to fundraising and caring for animals.
We are always looking for more volunteers (Read about this on the
Ways You Can Help
page) |
